第三節被超前後，火箭就被老鷹壓著打，但老鷹優勢沒維持多久，Aaron Brooks一記三分彈，幫助火箭打出5比0攻勢，追到72比73。

林書豪一度帶球假動作後出手，但未能投進，之後他切入籃下，傳給外線等待的Francisco Garcia出手不進。

球權還在火箭手上，James Harden在外線要到犯規獲3罰機會，3罰2中下，火箭取得74比73領先。

跟著林書豪在搶下防守籃板，還獲得犯規，罰進2球讓火箭來到3分領先，結果被老鷹Kyle Korver一發三分砲追平比數。

雖然Harden隨即得分，但DeMarre Carroll再砍三分球，又以1分落後，林書豪一次從外線切入，面對兩個老鷹防守球員腳步稍微滑倒，被吹籃下3秒，時間也所剩無多。

最後25.5秒，結果握有球權的火箭發生失誤，Brooks切入後將球外傳，結果無人接應造成出界，火箭先用犯規讓對手罰球，抓最後一波球權。

最後6.5秒，林書豪在外線等到機會出手命中，但腳踩線上，仍以80比81落後，之後再施犯規，但犯在Korver身上，被他罰進兩球。

握有最後進攻機會的火箭，由林書豪在跑動中獲得傳球並出手，但已被老鷹球員堵住出手路線，80比83　宣告戰敗命運。
